Parent-led reviews with supervised junior tester feedback

About

Parent-led reviews. Junior Scout feedback. No filler.

Scooter Scouter started because most kids gear reviews were written by people who had never watched a cautious first-time rider try to stop on a driveway. We changed that.

How we review

Every product we evaluate starts with a parent-led safety check: brakes, speed cap, certification, rider weight range, and setup time. We don't recommend anything that fails the required criteria on our safety checklist.

Products that pass the safety check move to the junior-tester phase. A supervised junior rider (our "Junior Scout") rides each product and gives feedback on confidence, comfort, and whether they ask to ride it again. This is not a formal kid review — it's structured observation by a parent looking for specific signals.

Final recommendations are made by the adult editor. Junior Scout feedback informs fit and fun scoring only. Safety and technical assessments are adult-led, full stop.

Who runs this site

Scooter Scouter is run by a parent who got tired of reading scooter roundups with no age-specific guidance, no safety criteria, and no acknowledgment that a 7-year-old and a 13-year-old have completely different needs from the same product category.

We are not sponsored by any manufacturer. We do not accept free products in exchange for guaranteed positive reviews. Products we test were purchased at retail price or borrowed from families who agreed to share their experience with us.

Affiliate disclosure

Scooter Scouter participates in affiliate advertising programs, including the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program and other affiliate networks. When you click a product link on this site and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you.

Affiliate commissions help fund the time and cost of testing products. They do not influence our recommendations. If a product does not meet our safety criteria, we do not recommend it regardless of commission structure. If we think a cheaper alternative is safer or better, we say so.

Links marked as affiliate links generate a commission. Not all links on this site are affiliate links — we link to safety resources, manufacturer specs, and reference pages without any commercial relationship.
